Another thinking man.  The last pole shift was during the Jewish Exodus,
and mankind on all continents survived.  Moses brought his group though
the Valley of the Shadow of Death (read volcanic gloom).  It's hopeless
for MUCH of mankind, however, living on top of fault lines or volcanoes,
or along coast lines due to start sloshing during the shift.  The
government is catatonic, unable to get past smoke-filled rooms arguing
endlessly the option of alerting folks versus death and disaster due to
panic.  Overriding all of that is the keen press of the wealthy and
powerful to have peace up until they hustle off to their enclaves of
safety, and to hell with the rest of you.  These folks control the
media, they got George W elected (and to hell with the popular vote in
the US in general and in Florida, which Gore won), and they want the
status quo as long as possible.

But survival IS and HAS BEEN possible!  Please visit the Troubled Times
web site where hundreds of very intelligent folks have been discussing
these issues for the past few years.  Filled with solutions to problems
you will be presented with.  Examples: distill your water to get rid of
volcanic dust pollution of groundwater, or lead in groundwater upset by
quakes (distillation gets rid of germs, parasite, pollutants, and heavy
metals).  Example: remember that bears live on grubs and bugs, and YOU
can too.  Example: get away from coast lines and volcanoes, plan to live
as folks did 100 years ago when the grid is down.  Example: when the
satellites are torn from the skies, short wave radio will be a
communication vehicle that will survive, and can even function as a
packet relay Internet.  Example: your governments will collapse, so
don't look to them, look to yourself, self-help being the key.
