From: Roger Date: Wed Oct 23, 2002 8:20 am Subject: Garden Project Report Not much happening this time of year. The drought and the heat seriously reduced the bean harvest. We have barely recovered the quantities planted, and some varieties are a total loss. There was no corn harvest as the drying process was interupted by deluges and then the kernals molded on the stalks. The potato crop was severely affected by poor conditions and likely won't survive the winter in storage (tubers are just too small and are already shriveling away). There are no plans to do any work with the ground this fall and it is hoped that there will be fuel enough remaining (at reasonable prices) next spring to break some additional beds and expand on the current planting scheme.
