The following changes are proposed to the TT Radio Project Description:

Old Yahoo Groups description:
This group is for education and discussion of information and issues associated with the creation of a substitute for the internet using Ham Radio. The need for a Short Wave Internet among TT Members is to allow communication in the event of global cataclysm. Group instruction takes place at ../nonproft/radio

New Yahoo Group description:
This group addresses the need for Short Wave communication among TT Members after the upcoming Pole Shift, and the preparations necessary for using Ham Radio as a substitute for the Internet. See our home page: ../nonproft/radio for further details.

Old Project description, Annual Report:
Short Wave Communication
Since short wave radio can operate in times of crisis, when satellite uplinks or telephone land lines are not available, the corporation provides information on this communication medium. Using short wave as an Internet replacement is possible with packet relay, but in the main skill in this is restricted to hobbyist. The corporation, with contributions from communications specialist Ron Darby, developed web based self-study classes and practice sessions to develop these skills in the public.

New Project description:
Short Wave Communication
Short Wave communication uses radio waves propagated in the Earth's atmosphere, and is independent of any infrastructure like ISPs, servers, satellites, telephone lines or fiber needed for the operation of the Internet. In times of crisis like after the upcoming Pole Shift, Short Wave Communication can be used for global voice communication as well as a primitive Internet replacement using Packet Radio communication.

Short Wave Communication skills must be acquired before the Pole Shift through Ham Radio courses and licensing, including Morse Code which is required for operating privileges on the HF bands required for international communication. TT Members are encourages to acquire such skills & licenses for pre-PS practicing and acquisition of the necessary equipment.

The project will test and advice upon equipment needed for Packet Radio communication, test the various Packet Radio protocols and agree on a common standard for post-PS communication, arrange IRC Chats, communications tests, and establish the necessary Short Wave Communication between the project members before the Pole Shift.

Web based self-study classes and practice sessions have been developed as an assistance the novices during their Ham training, and are available at ../nonproft/radio. Tests, equipment recommendations and guidelines for post-PS communications will be posted at this site as they are developed.

Note to the Board & TT Inc members:
The TT Radio web site does not currently reflect the new project description, but was developed as a self-study course by communications specialist Ron Darby. However, since pre-PS Ham Radio communication requires licensing best acquired through local Ham Radio courses, this approach will not be further developed.

I am currently in process acquiring my Morse Code license (equivalent to the US Extra license class), hopefully by June this year. Project reactivation, communication tests etc. will be dependent upon that licensing as well as the planned mounting of an international radio tower at my survival site later this year.
